3:00 - 4:00 PERCUSSION WORKSHOP – Marshall Greenhouse & CABP This workshop will be based off of the rhythms used in afro-beat music. Marshall will start with a short history of what afro-beat music is and what the roots of it are. He will bring other members of the group to help demonstrate the main ideas of what makes certain rhythms 'afro-beat' as opposed to anything else. They will get the audience to participate and answer any questions they might have. The Gypsy Jazz jam, featuring the instrumentalists of the Stolen Sweets, will be a fun, informal and informative introduction to gypsy jazz rhythm and swing playing, in the style of the inimitable Django Reinhardt. Beginning to advanced instrumentalists are welcome. |
